I tried changing my url from minutemanswife.blogspot.com to realitychallengeddreamer.blogspot.com but then some loyal followers started to contact me and tell me that they couldn't access my blog anymore.
Of course my first though was they were technology challenged and most people would still be able to find my posts - not true!! When I posted my Wordy Wednesday post I was expecting to get my usual dozen or so witty comments, but I only got two commenters!!
This told me the problem was legit, so I snagged back my old url (minutemanswife), but I figure there must be a way to change your url without leaving all your followers in the dark. Isn't there?? Does anyone out there have anything helpful to add on this??
When I did it, I went from a blogspot.com address to a hosted domain address. There's boxes to check and a guide to follow... but my switch probably isn't the same as yours...
ReplyDeleteI dunno. I wish I could help...
Wish I could help you there sweets. I'm a writer and definitely not technologically talented!!! Hugs. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteRemember a couple of months ago when I was about to lose my primary email address?
ReplyDeleteI had to go through a nutty process (Blogger's "help" walked me through it) where I opened a new gmail account, and a new Blogger account. Then I had to authorize my new self as an author on the blog, transferring the old blog to the new account. I don't remember the details, as the brain intentionally blocks traumatic memories, but I do know I had to manually re-enter all of the blogs I follow. I now show up on those blogs' lists of followers, as two different "people."
The help desk people at Blogger linked me to some very good instructions, but it was a frustrating process. Good luck!!!!
Just don't go disappearing without saying goodbye.
ReplyDeleteI hate that shit.
When I changed mine, I just made a post directing people to the new site. Everyone who was following via RSS feed would get the update, and it's the top post on the old site.
ReplyDeleteI followed someone who changed their name and I never could get my blog to follow her. I have no idea why. I am getting your new-named blog.
ReplyDeleteWhen I changed my "noreallyitsnotme.blogspot.com" (Ugh! What was I thinking???) to mycyberhouserules.com it automatically transferred everything to where it was seamless! But that was with the purchase of my own domain ($10/yr). People never even realized the change, and I simply decided I was worth it!
